Over the years, computers have been known to have no feeling and inept at reading emotions. This ability has been believed to be sacred to only human but guess what, computers will soon be able to read your emotions (not just smileys this time). Very soon humans may begin to compete with computer on the ability to correctly read and interpret emotions. Rana el Kaliouby, Chief Science Officer and co-founder of and her team built an app “emotion engine” that knows how you feel from the look on your face.
A modifier just as the name implies is said to transform , change or customize another element in the structure, on which it is dependent. When you think of modifiers, think of the role of an adjective in a phrase- just as adjective modifies a noun in spoken languages, the modifier modifies the element its dependent on. Also, just as a phrase without an adjective can exist without losing its meaning (you can say “a girl” instead of saying “a beautiful girl” ), a Java keyword can exist without a modifier; a modifier only gives more details to its dependent. Java modifiers can be classed into two as listed below with the types under each category
When we run multiple tasks e.g. working on document, playing music, downloading files, copying and pasting files, we seem to think that the computer is doing all these tasks simultaneously. Meanwhile, the computer just appears to be but in reality the computer is switching between all the processes at extremely high speeds and at the same time making each process believe they have its total attention and complete control at all times. This impression is managed by the computer’s Operating System, it manages the switches so high you and the process running do not know it.
In my last post , we started looking at basic Java keywords and syntax. This post will take off from where we stopped as we will be discussing variables and its different forms/types and identifiers.
Variable: A Java variable is a piece of memory that can contain a data value. Objects store their states in variables hence they are used as containers to hold values during the life cycle of an application. This can be any kind of information depending on the type of value the variable is holding. A variable can hold data ranging from texts(String), numbers(int,long), decimal numbers(double, float) and temporary results of multi step calculations etc.
A Syntax is the arrangement of words and phrases to create well-formed sentences in a language. According to Wiki, Java syntax is the set of rules defining how a Java program is written and interpreted. The Syntax is constantly improved in major JDK releases. This lesson will be divided into posts because there is so much to talk about. Please endeavour to look up on the keywords as I’ll be as brief as possible on each syntax.
Package: A package is a name space that mainly contains classes and interfaces. It is a mechanism to encapsulate a related group of classes, interfaces and sub packages providing access protection and name space management.
